The Canterbury Rams have added their first import for the upcoming NZ NBL season, signing forward Winston Shepard.

Shepard most recently played for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the NBA G-League, and has also spent time overseas in Hungary. He attended San Diego State from 2012-2016.

Shepard compiled averages of 9.6 points and 5.9 rebounds in 19 games (six starts) with Santa Cruz. The 24-year-old shot 46.6 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three.

The Rams, after signing Shepard, still have room for two more imports on their roster.

Canterbury begin the season against the Super City Rangers on April 27.
