The Nelson Giants have announced the signing of hometown forward Mika Vukona on Tuesday.
Vukona returns to Nelson after a stint with the Super City Rangers in Auckland. He last played for the Giants in 2015.
Early indications are that Vukona will take some time off after the Commonwealth Games before joining the Giants for the upcoming NZ NBL season, according to NZ Hoops.
Giants General Manager Bill Dahlberg is excited to have Vukona back with the Giants.
“Mika has a wealth of experience, is a talented player, a fierce competitor and will be a great mentor. We have a talented young team and to have Mika wanting to assist the
Giants getting back to being a force in the NBL is brilliant. We’re really pleased to have him back in a Giants uniform, bringing his exciting style to our home fans,” said Dahlberg.
The Giants will open the season in Nelson on April 28 against the Super City Rangers.
