The Wellington Saints have signed guards Shaun Bruce and L.J. Peak to their 2018 NBL roster, according to NZ Hoops.
Bruce and Peak will join Majok Majok as the three imports on the roster.
After spending three productive years at Georgetown University, Peak went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft before playing Summer League hoops with the Houston Rockets. He was unable to make the Rockets’ roster and was later signed by the Boston Celtics.
Peak was eventually cut by the Celtics, too, one week prior to the 2017-18 NBA season and was assigned to the Maine Red Claws, Boston’s G-League affiliate.
In 46 games with the Red Claws he compiled averages of 12.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 31.3 minutes per game, shooting 42.5 per cent from the field (28.7 per cent from three).
Australian guard Shaun Bruce has spent time with the Cairns Taipans and Brisbane Bullets of the ANBL. He hasn’t been a major part of either teams rotation but should get ample opportunity with the Saints.
The Saints’ season begins on April 27 against the Southland Sharks, a 2017 grand final rematch.
