F/C Jordan Ngatai has re-signed with the New Zealand Breakers on a two-year deal, the team announced on Thursday.
Ngatai posted averages of 2.8 points and 0.9 rebounds in 8.1 minutes per game (17 games) last season, shooting 53 per cent from the field. His best game came against the Sydney Kings in February, dropping a career-high 17 points.
The 25-year-old represented the Tall Blacks at the Commonwealth Games, and also plays for the Wellington Saints in the Sal’s NBL.
Ngatai said he’s ready to take on an expanded role with the Breakers next season.
“Signing a new deal with the SKYCITY Breakers, it’s awesome. Being back with the Breakers family is an environment I am familiar with, it will be great. I’ve got high hopes for this upcoming season.
“For sure I think I’m ready. As for goals I’ll look at those closer to the season but as long as I stay aggressive good things always seem to happen.”
Six players are now under contract for the Breakers as NBL free agency continues: Shea Ili, Thomas Abercrombie, Alex Pledger, Jarrad Weeks, Finn Delaney and Ngatai.
