Rangers add F/C Devon Scott

The Super City Rangers have signed F/C Devon Scott for the 2018 Sal’s NBL season.

Scott spent three years at Dayton University, but was dismissed from the team in 2014 after allegedly stealing money from other dorms on campus. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail as a result.

Scott was averaging 9.1 points and 7.4 rebounds in 27.7 minutes per game (nine games) prior to his dismissal, shooting a tidy 63.6 per cent from the field.

He most recently spent time in Canada and Chile and is scheduled to arrive in New Zealand today, per NZ Hoops on Twitter.

Prior to the signing the Rangers only had one player over 6-foot-5, so the addition of Scott is huge for them. They desperately need rebounding after getting crushed on the glass last night against the Canterbury Rams, giving up a whopping 23 offensive boards.

Scott may not totally fill the void in the frontcourt, but he’s certainly going to help out in a big way moving forward.

It’s unclear, at this stage, whether Scott will be available to play tonight against the Nelson Giants at 7pm.
