The New Zealand Breakers have officially signed centre Majok Majok, the team has announced.
Majok won an ANBL Championship with Melbourne United last season, and is currently playing for the Wellington Saints in the NZ NBL under head coach Kevin Braswell.
Braswell’s familiarity with Majok was likely a big reason for his decision to sign with the Breakers.
The NZ Herald first reported the Breakers’ interest in Majok back on April 28.
He posted averages of 3.5 points and 2.9 rebounds with Melbourne last season.
Majok is an athletic big man who’ll provide the Breakers with a solid foundation in the frontcourt.
The Breakers are also reportedly interested in Majok’s Melbourne teammate and former Breaker, Tai Wesley. Reports indicate a deal between Wesley and the Breakers is imminent.
In addition, the Breakers and Alex Pledger are reportedly close to parting ways. Pledger is under contract for next season, but the team has told Pledger that he can pursue opportunities with other teams. Melbourne United is one potential landing spot for Pledger, per the Herald.
