The Manawatu Jets have escaped with an impressive 124-121 win over the Super City Rangers on Saturday night.
Kuran Iverson led the way for the Jets with a massive 36-9-10-8-3 line in the victory, shooting 13-of-21 from the field, 3-of-5 from three and 7-of-11 at the line.
Fellow American import Daishon Knight was also spectacular, dropping 37 points, five rebounds and nine assists on 12-of-18 shooting (12-of-13 at the line).
Brandon Lucas added 12 points for Manawatu, while Haize Walker scored 13 on 4-of-6 shooting.
Rangers guard Clay Wilson nailed an NBL record 11 3-pointers, scoring 48 points on 16-of-23 shooting overall.
Lindsay Tait recorded a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds, 14 assists, two steals and one block on 9-of-11 shooting from the floor. Tait recently announced that the 2018 NBL season would be his last, but he continues to play at a high level regardless.
Import big man Devon Scott managed 19 points in 30 minutes of work, while former Jet Marcel Jones posted 14 points and 11 rebounds.
It was a game with minimal defence and a ton of offensive production. Both teams shot over 60 per cent from the field and were generally efficient from beyond the arc.
Tonight’s victory was the Jets’ first of the season, moving them to 1-3. The Rangers remain win-less at 0-4.
