The Wellington Saints have taken down the Super City Rangers on Friday night, 98-93.
The Saints used a massive 32-3 run to claw back from an early deficit, building a 22-point led at one stage in the third quarter. The Rangers, however, managed to battle back and cut the deficit to one late in the game, but they just couldn’t pull through.
Shea Ili led the Saints in scoring with 23, adding two rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one block in 33 minutes (7-of-13 shooting).
L.J. Peak was also productive with 22 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals, while Jordan Ngatai dropped 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting and 3-of-4 from three.
Centre Majok Majok reeled in 16 rebounds for Wellington, but shot just 3-of-10 from the field.
Veteran Marcel Jones had himself a nice game for the Rangers with 26 points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 38 minutes, shooting 11-of-19 from the field.
Lindsay Tait posted a busy stat-line with 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals on 6-of-11 shooting (2-of-2 from three), while American Devon Scott recorded 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Saints move to 3-1 after tonight’s victory, while the Rangers remain winless at 0-5.
