Kiwi big man Tai Wynyard will continue his college basketball career at Santa Clara University.
Wynyard was granted a release from Kentucky back in April, after he was suspended for violating the team rules. He allegedly went to on-campus parties with an armed bodyguard.
Santa Clara is a Division I basketball team, but are far from the prestige of Kentucky. However, Wynyard should get ample opportunity to succeed with the Broncos as he works towards a career in the NBA.
Santa Clara’s head coach Herb Sendek is excited to have Wynyard join the programme.
“We are thrilled to welcome Tai Wynyard to our Santa Clara Family. Tai distinguished himself playing for the New Zealand National Team, and now, joins us from the University of Kentucky. His abilities to score, pass, rebound, and defend should add great value to our future teams.”
The college basketball season tips-off later this year.
