The Nelson Giants have escaped with a hard-fought victory over the Manawatu Jets on Sunday night.
The Giants used 20-point efforts from three players to edge the Jets 87-85 in Manawatu.
Kyle Adnam and Damon Heuir each scored 21 points for Nelson, while Jerry Evans Jr. posted 20 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and one block on 6-of-15 shooting from the field (2-of-8 3PT).
The Jets got a massive game from American import Kuran Iverson, who dropped 38 points, eight rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block in 38 minutes of play. He shot an efficient 14-of-22 from the field and 3-of-8 from distance.
Daishon Knight also had himself a solid game with 24 points, five rebounds, five assists and six steals on 9-of-20 shooting.
The Giants crushed the Jets on the glass, outrebounding them 56-31. However, 22 turnovers held Nelson back from really building a big lead in this one.
The Jets drop to 1-5 following the loss, while the Giants move to 4-2 on the season.
