The Canterbury Rams have comfortably beaten the Super City Rangers 98-83 on Sunday afternoon in Auckland.
Rams forward Winston Shepard came close to notching a triple-double with 20 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and three steals on 6-of-15 shooting (2-of-3 from three).
Julian Washburn was strong for the second consecutive game, posting 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists on a stellar 12-of-17 shooting from the field.
Xavier Thames managed 17 points, four rebounds and six assists but shot just 4-of-12 from the field, while Maxwell Darling dropped 15 points and seven rebounds.
Veteran Marcel Jones led the way for the Rangers with 29 points and 10 rebounds in 39 minutes, shooting a tidy 12-of-23 from the field and 4-of-13 from distance.
Lindsay Tait was productive across the board with 14 points, four rebounds, nine assists and two steals on 5-of-10 shooting (2-of-3 3PT), while Devon Scott added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
The win takes the Rams to 4-1 on the season and moves them to the top of the Sal’s NBL ladder, while the Rangers sit at 0-6.
