The Southland Sharks have soundly defeated the Bay Hawks 104-74 on Saturday night.
The Sharks got contributions from multiple players tonight, with six scoring in double figures.
Alex Pledger led the way with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting, James Hunter scored 16 points with six rebounds off the bench (6-of-10 FG) and Luke Aston managed 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field (2-of-4 3PT).
Conor Morgan and Jarrad Weeks each scored 12 points for the Sharks. Weeks added seven assists and four steals, while Morgan did a bit of everything with five rebounds, five assists and three steals. They each hit two 3-pointers, too.
It was a pretty somber sight overall for the Hawks, but Jarrod Kenney was productive with 18 points and seven rebounds on 6-of-10 shooting.
Australian big man Angus Brandt scored 15 points in 24 minutes of work, while Everard Bartlett (11 points) and Hyrum Harris (10 points) were both somewhat productive off the bench. Bartlett shot an impressive 3-of-5 from three.
The Hawks actually shot better than the Giants tonight, but it was their whopping 28 turnovers that doomed them; a season-high among all Sal’s NBL teams.
Both the Sharks and Hawks are now 4-2 following tonight’s result.
