There was again movement at the top of the Sal’s NBL ladder on Sunday afternoon, after the Nelson Giants took down the Super City Rangers, 101-86 in Auckland.
The Giants got a massive game from Finn Delaney, who dropped 33 points on 12-of-17 shooting and 6-of-10 from three. He added six rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block in 36 minutes of action.
Kyle Adnam and Damon Heuir each scored 20 points. Adnam shot 9-of-17 from the field and added three rebounds, nine assists, two steals and one block. Heuir shot a tidy 8-of-12 from the field and 4-of-6 from three.
Devon Scott managed 22 points for the Rangers to go with seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and five blocks in 33 minutes (6-of-8 FG).
Lindsay Tait and Marcel Jones each did a bit of everything. Tait recorded 13 points, four rebounds and nine assists on 5-of-10 shooting, while Jones had 14 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals on 6-of-13 shooting.
Clayton Wilson contributed 14 points with two 3-pointers (2-of-7) for the hosts.
Rebounding has been a big downfall for the Rangers all season long and that remained the case today; the Giants comfortably outrebounding them, 43-26.
The Giants now sit at the top of the table with a 6-2 record, while the Rangers’ woes continue at 0-8.
