The Wellington Saints were able to secure another win over the Super City Rangers on Thursday night, grabbing a 92-78 win in Auckland.
Shea Ili had another good game for the Saints, posting 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in 38 minutes, however, he shot just 7-of-22 from the field and 4-of-13 from three. Ili is having a tremendous season and has certainly put his name in the MVP conversation, regardless of tonight’s off shooting performance.
Jordan Ngatai was productive with 18 points, seven rebounds and two steals, but he also struggled with his shot going 6-of-18.
Majok Majok played 33 minutes and managed 15 points, nine rebounds, five assists, one steal and two blocks, while L.J. Peak scored 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 3-of-5 from three.
Shaun Bruce posted a handy line off the bench for Wellington with 11 points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals in 23 minutes.
Marcel Jones didn’t shy away from shooting for the Rangers, finishing with 22 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks on 9-of-25 shooting (3-of-12 3PT).
American import Devon Scott recorded 21 points and nine rebounds on 7-of-13 shooting, Dominique Kelman-Poto had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Lindsay Tait did a bit of everything with 15 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 39 minutes.
The Saints move to 6-1 with tonight’s victory, while the Rangers continue to struggle at 0-9.
