The Nelson Giants have dispatched the Manawatu Jets 96-80 on Friday night at the Trafalgar Centre.
Tohi Smith-Milner and Finn Delaney were fantastic for the home side. Smith-Milner finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds on 8-of-16 shooting and 4-of-6 from three, while Delaney managed 21 points and 12 rebounds on 8-of-15 shooting.
Imports Kyle Adnam and Damon Heuir struggled with their shot, shooting just 7-of-26 for the game but they managed to remain somewhat productive regardless. Adnam had 12 points, three rebounds and nine assists, while Heuir dropped 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Sam Dempster was effective off the bench for the Giants, amassing 12 points and nine rebounds on 4-of-5 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from three.
Daishon Knight led the way for Manawatu with 33 points on 11-of-23 shooting and 2-of-5 from three. Kuran Iverson also had a nice night with 26 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block in 33 minutes. He shot 10-of-19 from the field and 4-of-8 from three.
The Giants are now an impressive 8-2 on the season following tonight’s victory, while the Jets drop to 1-7.
