The Wellington Saints have taken down the Canterbury Rams 91-80 on Friday night at a sold out Horncastle Arena in Christchurch.
L.J. Peak led the way for the Saints with 26 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 from three.
Jordan Ngatai scored 19 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting in just 23 minutes, while Majok Majok had 16 points and 10 rebounds on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.
Shaun Bruce had a nice night off the bench for Wellington with 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists. He shot 4-of-7 from three in 26 minutes.
Xavier Thames was solid for the Rams despite the loss, posting 31 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field and 2-of-7 from three.
Fellow imports Julian Washburn and Winston Shepard were also productive. Washburn had 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, and Shepard had 12 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in 35 minutes of work.
The Saints are now 7-1 on the season, while the Rams dropped to 5-3.
