The Wellington Saints have moved to the top of the Sal’s NBL table after beating the Bay Hawks 86-77 on Sunday.
The Hawks had themselves a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, but managed to score just six points over the final 10 minutes to blow the lead.
Shea Ili led the way for the Saints with 28 points, three rebounds and seven assists on 9-of-16 shooting and 3-of-8 from three.
Majok Majok also had himself a nice game, posting 19 points and 14 rebounds on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, while L.J. Peak managed 14 points, five rebounds and five steals in 36 minutes.
The Hawks were without Everard Bartlett today, as he’s in Manila representing New Zealand at the FIBA 3×3 World Cup, and his absence was certainly felt.
Jarrod Kenney dropped 16 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists in 40 minutes of work. He shot 6-of-15 from the field and 2-of-6 from three.
Hyrum Harris had one of his better games this season with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting off the bench.
Dion Prewster (11 points), Mitchell Newton (13 points) and Jamie Skeen (12 points) were also notable contributors, despite the loss.
The Saints are now 8-1 following the win, while the Hawks are 5-5.
