The Nelson Giants have won a thriller over the Canterbury Rams on Thursday night, grabbing a 96-92 win in Nelson.
The Giants got multiple key contributions across the board and had guys step up down the stretch when it mattered most.
Kyle Adnam finished with 22 points, two rebounds, six assists and three steals on 7-of-12 shooting from the field.
Finn Delaney was productive for the Giants with 19 points, six rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks in 33 minutes, shooting 5-of-9 from the field.
Mika Vukona shot a perfect 7-of-7 from the field on the night, adding 15 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and one steal in just 23 minutes of work, while Tohi Smith-Milner dropped 17 points and seven rebounds on 6-of-13 shooting (3-of-6 from three).
For the Rams, Xavier Thames led the team in scoring with 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field and 3-of-6 from three. He added two rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in 40 minutes.
Julian Washburn managed 20 points on 5-of-12 shooting, and Winston Shepard recorded 19 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals on 7-of-14 shooting.
Tony Tolovae added 14 points with two 3-pointers for the Rams.
Nelson move to the top of the Sal’s NBL ladder with the win. They’re now 9-2, while the Rams drop to 5-4.
