Tall Blacks dismantle Hong Kong in Rotorua

The Tall Blacks proved too good for Hong Kong on Thursday night, cruising to a 124-65 victory in Rotorua.

New Zealand used their superior size to crush Hong Kong on the glass 50-14, including a whopping 17 offensive rebounds. They also shot a scorching hot 66 percent from the field.

Tom Abercrombie and Rob Loe led the Tall Blacks in scoring with 18 points each. Abercrombie shot 6-of-10 from the field and 5-of-6 from three, while Loe finished 6-of-9 and 4-of-6 from distance.

Veteran Isaac Fotu was superb with 17 points and seven rebounds on 8-of-9 shooting, and Finn Delaney chipped in 15 points and six rebounds with two 3-pointers.

Jordan Ngatai (14 points) and Dion Prewster (11 points) also scored in double figures for the Tall Blacks, hitting two 3-pointers each in the process.

Shea Ili, fresh off his trail with the Dallas Mavericks, struggled a little with just five points on 2-of-8 shooting. He did, however, dish out 10 assists to lead the team in that department.

The Tall Blacks now head to Auckland for a matchup against a strong China team. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 3pm at Spark Arena.
