The Wellington Saints managed to hold on against the Canterbury Rams on Tuesday night, winning 94-92.
Rams guard Xavier Thames had a chance to win it with a 3-pointer at the buzzer, but it didn’t fall and the Saints moved back to the top of the ladder.
Majok Majok had a massive game for Wellington with 24 points and 15 rebounds in 37 minutes. He shot 10-of-13 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
Shaun Bruce was fantastic off the bench, scoring 21 points with four rebounds, three assists and two steals on 7-of-13 shooting.
Shea Ili did a bit of everything with 19 points, six rebounds, seven assists, three steals and one block on 8-of-20 shooting (2-of-6 3PT), while Jordan Ngatai managed 15 points, six rebounds and five assists on 6-of-12 shooting.
Julian Washburn had 27 points to lead the Rams, adding 10 rebounds and three assists in 37 minutes. He shot an impressive 13-of-17 from the field on the night.
Xavier Thames recorded 18 points, five rebounds, six assists and four steals, while Winston Shepard had 16 points, five rebounds, seven assists and three steals. The pair combined to shoot 13-of-33 from the field, however.
Tony Tolovae added 15 points on 3-of-4 shooting from three.
The Saints are now 11-2 and the Rams are 7-6.
