The Southland Sharks have comfortably beaten the Super City Rangers on Thursday night, 116-104.
The Rangers had the lead after the first quarter, 28-27, but the Sharks put their foot down in the second quarter, outscoring the Auckland-based club 39-23. From that point onwards they didn’t look back.
Conor Morgan had a fantastic game for the Sharks, compiling 28 points and four rebounds on 11-of-17 shooting from the field. and 6-of-10 from three.
Jarrad Weeks was also incredibly efficient with 23 points, five rebounds, 10 assists and four steals on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and 5-of-7 from three.
Center Alex Pledger managed a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in 23 minutes of work, while American import Orlando Coleman dropped 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
Tall Blacks forward Reuben Te Rangi added 11 points with three 3-pointers.
Marcel Jones had a massive game for the Rangers, finishing with 26 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block in 39 minutes. He shot 9-of-23 overall and 1-of-6 from three.
Clayton Wilson led his team in scoring with 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field and 4-of-12 from three.
Lindsay Tait and Dominique Kelman-Poto did a bit of everything. Tait recorded 12 points, four rebounds and five assists, while Kelman-Poto had 19 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block on 9-of-16 shooting.
The Sharks are now 9-3 on the season and the Rangers drop to 2-11.
