The Bay Hawks have snagged a big win over the Canterbury Rams on Thursday night, securing an 84-78 win at Pettigrew Green Arena.
The Hawks got a big contribution from Dion Prewster, who totaled 22 points, six rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks in 35 minutes of action. He shot 8-of-16 from the field and 1-of-7 from three.
Angus Brandt narrowly missed out on a double-double with 16 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two steals on 8-of-11 shooting from the floor.
Ethan Rusbatch dropped 15 points and five rebounds on 4-of-10 shooting and 2-of-6 from three, while Jarrod Kenney added 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field and 2-of-5 from three.
The Rams were led by Julian Washburn with 28 points, nine rebounds, two assists and one steal in 33 minutes. He shot an efficient 13-of-18 from the field on the night.
Winston Shepard managed a triple-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists and two steals, but shot just 3-of-11 from the field.
Michael Karena added 15 points and seven rebounds for Canterbury.
The Hawks move to 8-6 with the win and are on track to snag the fourth seed, while the Rams slump to their fourth straight defeat and are now 7-8.
