The Bay Hawks have cruised past the Manawatu Jets on Sunday afternoon, winning 103-70 at Pettigrew Green Arena in Napier.
The Hawks have already secured themselves a top-4 spot this season but they still came out strong and turned in a solid performance at home.
Dion Prewster led the way with 17 points, nine rebounds and two assists in 25 minutes of work. He shot 5-of-7 from the field and 3-of-5 from three.
Mitchell Newton was fantastic off the bench for Hawke’s Bay, recording a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds on 5-of-12 shooting in 25 minutes. Everard Bartlett added 12 points with four 3-pointers off the bench, too.
Jarrod Kenney totaled 11 points and eight assists on 3-of-4 shooting and 2-of-2 from three, while Ethan Rusbatch contributed 12 points on 2-of-3 shooting from distance.
It was a rough night overall for the Jets, but two of their American imports had standout performances.
Kuran Iverson dropped 22 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals in 40 minutes, shooting 9-of-19 from the field overall.
Daishon Knight scored 27 points on 11-of-22 shooting, adding three rebounds, two assists and one steal for Manawatu.
The Hawks move to 10-6 following the victory, while the Jets drop to 3-14.
